The Pakistan team is touring Zimbabwe these days. In the second match of the T20 series, Zimbabwe had an unprecedented poor record. After a good start, the entire Zimbabwean team collapsed to the point where no one could believe what was happening. Zimbabwe has the lowest score in T20 internationals and if we talk about the full members of the ICC, then the team has now reached the fourth position in the list.
The opening pair scored 37 points, and then the tables suddenly turned.
When Zimbabwe faced Pakistan, Brian Bennett and Tadiwanash Malumani opened the innings. Both scored 37 points in four rounds. But Tadivashe Marumani was out after scoring 16 runs. His successor was Abbas Afridi. Even then, no one knew what would happen next in the game. But with the same score, another opener, Brian Bennett, was also out. He scored 21 points. Just like that, the process of getting the batsman out began and didn’t stop.
The Zimbabwe team played with all their strength and scored 57 points, the lowest score of the team.
Teams that did not lose any wickets in four overs were all eliminated in 12.4 overs. Barring the two openers, no other batsman has been able to breach double figures. The team could only score a total of 57 points. This is Zimbabwe’s lowest result in T20 internationals. Earlier in the year, the team scored 82 runs against Sri Lanka, but by the end of the year, that record had also been broken.
ICC has the fourth smallest total number of official member teams.
Now, if we talk about the ICC full member teams, West Indies have the lowest score. In 2019, West Indies scored just 45 runs against England. After that, West Indies managed just 55 runs against England in 2021. In 2024, Afghanistan could only score 56 points against South Africa. Next up was Zimbabwe, who lost all their wickets in 57 matches. Well, if we talk about the smallest score in T20 Internationals, then this record is the name of Ivory Coast. This team only managed 7 points in 2024.
