Yunus adviser says Bangladesh talks ties with India, attacks on Hindus

Dhaka: Statements by Shafiqur Alam, chief adviser and press secretary to interim government caretaker Muhammad Yunus, on the ongoing unrest and attacks against Hindus in Bangladesh have come to light. He said he made this statement regarding relations with India and attacks on Hindus. Shafiqur first attacked Sheikh Hasina, saying: “…Sheikh Hasina is a mass murderer. She rules one of the cruelest dictatorships.

Let us tell you that Sheikh Hasina is currently in India. Shafiqur Alam said we were shocked and surprised to learn that he was still allowed to speak to the media at his official residence…” On the Indian Foreign Minister’s visit to Bangladesh, he said: “We are looking forward to the visit of the foreign ministers of both countries. Discuss issues of common interest. We hope that this meeting can further deepen the relationship between the two countries.

Bangladesh says it has no intention of banning ISKCON

He said that our relationship with India remains good and both countries are working hard to deepen relations. I hope our relationship will improve further in the coming months. On the issue of banning ISKCON temples after Hindu leader Chinmoy Das was arrested in Bangladesh, he said, “We have repeatedly said that we have no plans to ban ISKCON. We will not do anything like that.” However, he remained silent on the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.
