A 24-year-old man was murdered by his in-laws over an inter-religious marriage in Devbhoomi Dwarka district of Gujarat. While committing this crime, the accused first attacked him, then strangulated him to death. The police have registered a case in this matter and arrested six accused. This matter is being investigated.

A police officer said that this incident of murder took place on Saturday evening in Shedhakhai village of Bhanwad taluka of Devbhoomi Dwarka district. The name of the deceased is Yagnik Dudharejia. He had fallen in love with a Muslim girl from his own village. Both of them eloped against the wishes of the family and got married in the court. Because of this her in-laws were getting angry.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Hardik Prajapati said that the victim was living outside the village with his wife. But this June, after the birth of his daughter, he returned to the village with his wife. She thought that her in-laws would have agreed after such a long time, but it did not happen. His wife Ramza’s family rejected both of them.

Police said that on Saturday evening, Yagnik Dudhrejia had left the house with his friend Hardeep Singh Vajubha. At that very moment his wife’s relatives stopped him on the way. They were attacked with iron pipes, axes and knives. The victim was seriously injured. He was taken to the hospital, from where he was referred to Jamnagar.

After reaching there the doctors declared him dead. Based on the complaint of the victim’s mother, a case has been registered against six people at Bhanwad police station. Police said that the arrested accused have been identified as Sajid Detha, Salim Detha, Juma Detha, Ahmed Detha, Usman Musa and Hothi Kasam. The accused are being interrogated in custody.
