A video of a devotee performing an exorcism on a patient in an ambulance in Bettur, Madhya Pradesh, has gone viral on social media. In fact, the young man was bitten by a cobra and was being taken to hospital by ambulance. But the family began performing exorcisms on the people in the ambulance. The ambulance driver refused to do so, but when they disagreed, he took a video of them.
Ganesh Kasde was bitten by a cobra in Betul’s Mahupani village on Tuesday night. His family immediately called an ambulance. When the ambulance arrived at the scene, a believer was already operating on the injured. Paramedics stopped the exorcism, moved the young man into an ambulance and started heading to the hospital. But the young man’s family members sat in the ambulance with Bhagat and began clearing the road.
When ambulance driver Krishna Pawar became suspicious, he stopped the ambulance, looked back and saw a scuffle taking place inside the ambulance, so he tried to stop it. When they disagreed, the driver made a video and it went viral. It is understood that the old man who performed the exorcism is the uncle of the young victim. The old man admitted that he had performed exorcisms and that the snake that bit him had been tied up in the village. Health experts say in this case, wasting time performing an exorcism could endanger the patient’s life.
Krishna, an ambulance driver, said a snake bite incident occurred during the night. When they arrive at the village to pick up the patient, an exorcism is taking place there. The late arrival was discussed with the family and the patient was loaded into the ambulance. At the same time, Bhagat also came in an ambulance and was sweeping the road. I took a video.
Dr Ranu Verma, a doctor at the district hospital, said, I saw Bhagat performing an exorcism in the video. Despite the ambulance driver’s refusal, the exorcisms continued. This is very dangerous. Due to wastage of time, many times patients lose their lives because if treatment for snake bites is started within half an hour, the patient would be cured.
