There are continuous protests in many parts of the country including Bengal in the case of rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Regarding this matter, the Mamata government is not only on the target of the opposition, but voices are being raised against them from within the TMC as well. Former Bengal Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has once again targeted the state government over this incident.
Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary has requested the famous lawyer Kapil Sibal, who is pleading the case on behalf of Mamata government in the Supreme Court, to recuse himself from the case. He said that Kapil Sibal is a big lawyer, he should withdraw his name from this case, this is my request. Sibal ji should step back in view of the anger of the common people of Bengal.
What did Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary say
While talking to the media, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said, ‘Kapil Sibal is a famous lawyer. He is also a big star in the legal world of India. I would request him to withdraw himself from the case or stay away from the case. I am saying this keeping in mind the sentiments of the common people of Bengal, the anger of the common people. It is better if you do not support the criminals because you were once an elected representative of the Lok Sabha. You are still a member of the Rajya Sabha.’

He further said, ‘You (Sibal) should think about the anger and rage that is erupting like a volcano among the common people after the RG Kar Hospital incident. After the death of the doctor, the Chief Minister of Bengal met his family and tried to woo them by saying that you will get 10 lakhs, keep quiet. You (Kapil Sibal) will also not be given a small amount. Mamata Banerjee has a lot of money which is our tax money.’
Referring to social media, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary said, ‘Sibal sahab, it is bad to see what is being seen on social media now. People are writing bad things against you on social media, I don’t like it. You were once a leader of our party, a minister and the Human Resource Minister. You were not a minor minister. In view of all these things, you should withdraw yourself from this case, this is my request to you.’
The doctor was raped and killed on August 9
The body of a 31-year-old female trainee doctor was found on the night of 9 August at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The doctor’s body had injury marks and was bleeding. Investigation revealed that the doctor was raped and then murdered. The police have arrested the accused Sanjay Roy and sent him to jail.

The incident caused outrage among the doctors and they went on strike. The Kolkata High Court transferred the investigation of the case from the police to the CBI. The CBI has been investigating the case for 8 days. Dr. Ghosh was appointed as the principal of the hospital in 2021.
