‘Yellow Hats And Ear Bandages’: RNC 2024’s ‘Informal’ Dresscode Is Donald Trump-Inspired

Several lawmakers and Donald Trump supporters at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday wore yellow hats as they cheered for the former president and his newly chosen running mate JD Vance. Amongst those who addressed the RNC on Day 3 were North Dakota governor Doug Burgum and Texas’ Greg Abbott.

Meanwhile, images of attendees wearing yellow hats surfaced on social media. “What do the yellow baseball hats mean?” one person asked on X, platform formerly known as Twitter.

“What do the yellow hats at the convention today mean? We’ll be watching your show tonight and every night,” another one added.

We don’t know the exact logic behind so many delegates wearing yellow baseball-style hats. But the accessory seems Donald Trump-inspired. The former president’s yellow hat became a notable symbol after he wore it during several public appearances, including rallies and events. The hat, often emblazoned with “Make America Great Again” or other slogans, has become a distinctive accessory associated with Trump’s brand and campaign. It stands out from the traditional red hats he popularized during his 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns.

On Day 1 and 2, several lawmakers and delegates at the RNC wore ear bandages.
