Yassin Malik
Mushar Hussain Malik, wife of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front separatist leader Yasin Malik, who is jailed on treason charges, has written a letter to Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. In her letter, she called for the issue of her husband, who is the Congress leader, to be raised in Parliament. In his letter, Mushar said Yasin Malik can play an important role in establishing peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mushar, the former assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, also mentioned in the letter that Yasin Malik is currently on trial for a 30-year-old treason case, and the National Investigation Agency has requested that he be sentenced to death. Malik himself is hearing the case before the Delhi High Court.
Lower court sentenced to life imprisonment
In this case, the NIA filed charges against Malik and other accused in 2017. In 2022, a lower court sentenced Malik to life imprisonment. Mushar wrote in the letter that Malik has been on an indefinite hunger strike since November 2 to protest against inhumane treatment in prison, and his health has been adversely affected as a result.
Mushar claimed that the Indian government has been torturing her husband in various ways since 2019. He blamed the Indian government, saying Malik was indicted for waging war in a 35-year-old case and now the NIA has sought the death penalty on the new charge.
Yasin Malik will help bring peace to Kashmir
In a letter to the Congress leader, Mushar said he should use his influence to initiate discussions in Parliament on Yasin Malik’s case. Mushar claimed in the letter that he would join the parliament if Yasin Malik is released from prison. The Kashmir Valley can play an important role in establishing peace.
