2024 Women’s U19 Asian Cup, IND and BAN: The first Women’s Under-19 Asian Cup will be held in 2024, with the Indian women’s team winning the championship for the first time. India defeated Bangladesh by 41 runs in the final to win the championship. Bangladesh captain Sumaiya Akhtar won the toss and decided to bowl first. Thereafter, the entire Indian team’s score was reduced to just 117 runs. Gongadi Trisha scored a half-century for India. Chasing a small target, the Bangladesh women’s team only scored 76 points.
Bangladesh’s batting collapses
The Bangladesh women’s team got off to a very bad start. When Mosamat Eva returned to the pavilion, no account was opened. Only two Bangladesh batsmen managed to reach double figures. These include Fahmida Choya (18 runs) and Zuaria Firdous (22 runs). Other than him, no other player has been able to hit the ball consistently. Bangladesh lost just 4 wickets for 55 runs but thereafter their batting collapsed like a pack of cards.
Ayushi Shukla bowls strongly
Ayushi Shukla has taken the most 3 wickets to her name in the Indian team and she has picked up 3 wickets in 3.3 overs. Apart from this, Purunika Sisodia and Sonam Yadav also took 2-2 wickets to their name. The bowlers did not give the Bangladesh batsmen a big hit and hence the entire Bangladesh team was bowled out for 76 runs.
Trisha scores a half-century
19-year-old Gongadi Trisha performed brilliantly for the Indian team. He scored 52 runs in an innings off 47 balls, including five fours and two sixes. He also won the Man of the Match award for his outstanding performance. Captain Nikki Prasad scored 12 points. Mithila Vinod contributed 17 points and Ayushi Shukla added 10 points. It is because of these players that the Indian team managed to cross the century mark. On the other hand, Farzana Esmin took the maximum four wickets for Bangladesh.
