The forest department team has achieved a great success in Bahraich, UP. The team has also caught the fifth wolf. Now the search is on for the last and sixth man-eating wolf. According to the forest officer, this sixth wolf is lame. It is hoped that he will also be caught soon. It is known that wolves have killed eight people so far and have also injured dozens of people.

Forest department officials present in Bahraich said that the fifth wolf was caught on Tuesday under the ‘Operation Bhedia’ campaign going on in the Mahsi tehsil of the district. This campaign is being run to catch a pack of six wolves. The pack has killed eight people and injured more than 20 people since mid-July.

Divisional Forest Officer Ajit Pratap Singh told the news agency that the fifth man-eating wolf was caught near the Ghaghra river near Harbhanspur village. He said – “Now the last wolf of the pack, who is lame, is left. It is hoped that he too will be caught soon.”

According to Ajit Pratap Singh, the forest department team found wolf footprints in the area on Monday night. However, as the operation could not be carried out at night, four teams of the forest department arrived in the morning and surrounded the area. The wolf was trying to escape, but got trapped in the trap laid by the forest department. With the help of the villagers, the forest workers caught the wolf and locked it in a cage.

Let us tell you that the forest department team caught the fourth wolf of the pack on 29 August. After that the remaining wolves became alert and have been out of reach since then. Currently, the forest department team is looking for the remaining sixth wolf, which is believed to be lame.

The divisional forest officer said that until the lame wolf is not caught, the danger will remain. The aim of the campaign ‘Operation Bhedia’, which has been going on since July 17, is to catch a pack of six wolves that have created terror in 50 villages of Mahsi tehsil of Bahraich district. Meanwhile, District Magistrate (Bahraich) Monica Rani said on September 2 that so far at least eight people, including seven children, have died in suspected attacks by these wolves.

About 25 teams from 5 forest divisions Bahraich, Katarniaghat Wild Life, Shravasti, Gonda and Barabanki are engaged in catching these man-eating wolves in Bahraich. Earlier, 200 policemen and shooters who can kill wolves on sight were deployed in these villages to save people from wolves in Bahraich.

While the Bahraich DFO is saying that the number of these wolves is six, the villagers of the affected areas are saying that their number is two dozen. In these villages, such an atmosphere of fear has been created due to the wolves that people are keeping vigil throughout the night.
