Akhilesh Yadav
Assembly elections are underway in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, but Uttar Pradesh by-elections are being discussed across the country. The Electoral Commission suspended 10 police officers on charges of negligence. The Election Commission took this action against the police based on complaints from Akhilesh Yadav and the Samajwadi Party.
This is the first time in the history of UP that action has been taken against so many policemen in a by-election. In this case, a question arises: What was Akhilesh Yadav’s strategy that led to the killing of so many policemen at the same time?
How does Akhilesh succeed in creating pressure?
1. He himself became active and prepared in the war room in Lucknow – As in the Lok Sabha elections, Akhilesh Yadav himself is considered to be in the lead in this Uttar Pradesh by-election. Akhilesh posted the first post against the police at 8:14 am. Since then, Akhilesh has remained vocal. Akhilesh posted information about the rigging of Kundarki, Sisamau and Katehri.
Before the by-election, the SP had set up a war room type system in Lucknow. This is very useful for political parties on polling day. Video and photos were pulled up from all constituencies in the war room. The same videos and photos were also sent to the Electoral Commission as evidence.
Many key leaders of the SP, including Akhilesh, remain active on social media and in committee offices. Aklish himself spoke by phone with state election officials. It is said that after Akhilesh got the assurance from here, he immediately went to hold a press conference.
As a result of Akhilesh’s press conference, the Election Commission swung into action and decided to take action against officials who had, on the face of it, serious charges against them.
2. Activists also clashed with police. Leaders were seen active in Lucknow and SP workers were also seen holding on to the ground. Many such videos have emerged of SP workers and supporters clashing with the police. The same video was also posted on SP’s Twitter account.
Like the Socialist Party, Congress also had a voice against the government. Congressional leaders have also been seen putting pressure on the committee by releasing videos of police conduct.
Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan also cornered the committee based on the video. Bhushan said police personnel were checking ID cards of voters, which was the first of its kind in the country.
Akhilesh leading ahead of results?
In 2022, out of the 9 assembly seats in UP where by-elections were being held, the Samajwadi Party won 4 seats (Sisamau, Katehari, Kundki and Karhal). Well, the BJP won in Ghaziabad and Phulpur, while the UDF won in Mirapur and the Nishad Party won in Majhivan.
After taking a lead in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Akhilesh is eyeing the 2027 Assembly elections. In this case, it’s important to stay on top of those seats. With the BSP in a strong position in the by-elections and the SP having no support from the Congress, some say Akhilesh’s wish may be dashed.
However, during the elections, Akhilesh put the BJP in trouble with a strong front.
1. Whatever the outcome is now in Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh and his party will declare themselves the winner by calling the entire election a government election. After the action against seven policemen, the BJP did not have much to stand against.
2. By opening a front against the government, Akhilesh has almost turned the third axis of the UPA into a secondary axis. In this by-election, the BSP and Asaduddin Owaisi’s party were said to be in a strong position in many seats, but now it is only the BJP and SP that are being discussed.
The results for all seats will be announced on the 23rd
The results for all nine seats will be declared on November 23. This time, out of the 9 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is contesting in 8 seats, the RLD is contesting in 1 seat, while only the Samajwadi Party is contesting in 9 seats.
However, Akhilesh Yadav certainly has the support of Congress and Mamata Banerjee’s party in the elections. In Maghivan, Mamata Party leader Lalitesh Pati Tripathi threw his weight behind the Samajwadi Party candidate.
