Will the UP by-election date change? The BJP makes this appeal to the Election Commission

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission demanding a change in the date of the assembly by-elections to be held in Uttar Pradesh. The BJP delegation in the memorandum said that due to the Kartik Purnima festival on November 15, people gathered in Kundalki, Mirapur, Ghaziabad and Prayagra three to four days in advance. lucky. In this case, the Election Commission should change the date keeping in mind Kartik Purnima. The new demand of the BJP is that the election should be held on November 20 instead of November 13.

Voting on November 13th, results on November 23rd
According to the Election Commission, polling for nine out of 10 vacant assembly seats in UP will be held on November 13. Counting of votes for all nine seats will take place on November 23 and the results will be announced on the same day. The results of the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections will also be announced on November 13.

However, the by-elections to be held in Mirchipur Assembly in Uttar Pradesh are yet to be announced. Opposition parties have raised various types of questions about this. The Congress claimed that just as Awadesh Prasad defeated the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections in Faizabad-Ayodhya, a similar by-election was not held in Mirkipur due to the danger of defeat. But the reasons why the Mirkipur by-election will not be held are different.

Therefore, no by-election date has been announced in Mirkipur.
Uttar Pradesh will hold by-elections for nine seats on November 13, including: Sisamau in Kanpur, Phulpur in Prayagraj, Karhal in Mainpuri, Majhwan in Mirzapur, Katehari in Ambedkar Nagar, Ghaziabad Sadar, Khair in Aligarh, Kundarki Kundarki. Moradabad and Mirapur are located in the Muzaffarnagar Islands. Sources said the Election Commission is yet to announce the election date for Mirkipur due to a pending case in the High Court.

In fact, former BJP MP Gorakhnath Baba has filed a petition in the High Court over the outcome of the 2022 assembly elections in Mirkipur. After losing the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Gorakhnath Baba filed a petition against Awadhesh Prasad winning the election. As this petition has not been processed, the schedule for the Mirkipur by-election has not been announced yet.
