Will the formula for Majhwan seat emerge from Katehari? BJP could bet big on by-elections to please Sanjay Nishad

The political situation over the Uttar Pradesh Assembly by-elections has heated up. Plans for the by-elections were chalked out at a BJP meeting in Delhi a day ago. A day ago, the BJP leaders held a meeting with the high command in Delhi to discuss the by-elections. It was decided in the meeting that the BJP will contest in 9 of the 10 seats. One seat will be given to RLD. The decision by the BJP is seen as a major blow to Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad. It is now believed that the BJP will not upset Sanjay Nishad and can work out a plan from Kaitri seat to Majhivan seat.

Regarding the by-elections, Sanjay Nishad has demanded two seats from the beginning. Among them, one is Majhivan seat in Mirzapur and the other is Kaitri in Ambedkar Nagar. Meanwhile, the BJP has decided to contest from 9 seats. Sanjay Nishad’s party is a partner in the Northern Alliance government. He himself is a cabinet minister. In this case, I believe the PPP will not displease him. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally called Sanjay Nishad to his residence on Monday. After the meeting between the two leaders, there were discussions that the BJP might give up the Kethari seat to Sanjay Nishad, if not both.

Sanjay Nishad also staked claim for Majhwan seat

Sanjay Nishad claimed sovereignty over the Majhwan seat as it was held by him earlier. Vinod Kumar Bind is the MLA here, but in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP fielded Bind from the Bhadohi Lok Sabha seat. Vinod Binder successfully won the election. Following this, preparations are underway for the by-election to the Majhwan seat. Sanjay Nishad wants to vacate the seat as it was held by him earlier.

The Kate Harry seat is being discussed as a by-election will also be held here. In the 2022 UP Assembly elections, the BJP lost both Katehri and Majhwan seats to Sanjay Nishad’s party. Now Sanjay Nishad, citing the assembly elections, said that when both the seats in the assembly elections fell to him, the same should be done for the by-elections, but the BJP is yet to agree.

Katehari seat fell vacant after Lalji Verma became MP.

Katehari seat in Ambedkar Nagar fell vacant after Lalji Verma became MP. SP fielded Lalji Verma in the 2022 Assembly elections, which he also won. Sanjay Nishad’s party had to face defeat. In the Lok Sabha elections, Akhilesh Yadav took a huge gamble by fielding Lalji Verma in the Assembly elections and the Samajwadi Party managed to win the seat. Now, the SP has fielded Lalji Verma’s wife Shobhavati Verma to contest the by-election.

Sanjay Nishad has repeatedly spoken about alliance dharma in front of the BJP and insisted on getting the 2022 seat as well as the Majhwan and Katehri seats. In this case, it is believed that if Sanjay Nishad does not agree, then the BJP can give the Katehri seat to him but will not make any compromise on the Majhwan issue. According to sources, the PPP does not want to leave the Majhivan seat under any circumstances.

Uttar Pradesh by-election is a problem for the BJP

Under no circumstances does the BJP want to take any risks in the by-elections. After its defeat in the Lok Sabha, the BJP saw the by-elections as a boost. This is why Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself is participating in the by-elections and visiting every seat, charting the political equation and trying to turn the tide in favor of the BJP. Party leaders also claimed that the BJP will win all the seats in the by-elections. In this case, if the BJP succeeds in winning all the seats, it will be a huge blow to the opposition parties and the ruling party will also have an opportunity to fight back.
