Junior doctors of West Bengal announced on Monday evening that they will continue their ‘strike’ to demand justice against the brutality done to the lady doctor. The striking doctors have demanded the resignation of the state health secretary and the director of health education (DHE). According to information, the doctors have planned to take out a rally towards the health department headquarters ‘Swasthya Bhawan’ in Salt Lake on Tuesday afternoon.

According to news agency PTI, a doctor said, ‘Our demands have not been met and the victim has not got justice. We will continue our strike and ‘kaam bandh’. We want the health secretary and DHE to resign. Tomorrow afternoon we will take out a rally to the health building.’

The victim’s body was found with severe injuries in a seminar room at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal while she was a postgraduate trainee. She was allegedly raped and murdered. The incident has sparked outrage and protests across the country.

During the hearing on Monday, the CJI had said that the doctors should return to work and we will ensure all the facilities provided to them. If they do not do so, strict action will be taken against them. The Supreme Court ordered that the police will ensure that the necessary conditions are created to ensure the safety of all doctors, including separate duty rooms, toilet facilities, installation of CCTV cameras. Doctors should first return to work and they should complete their work by returning to work.

Actually, a month after the Kolkata rape-murder case, the Supreme Court heard the case. The case was heard by a bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra. The CBI had submitted its status report on the investigation to the bench. Let us tell you that a lady doctor was brutally raped in Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital on the night of 8-9 August. After this incident, there were protests all over the country. Since then doctors have been protesting.
