Amid the controversy over the web series, on Monday, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India summoned the content head of Netflix in Delhi. Official sources said that the ministry summoned the content head of Netflix India on Tuesday and sought clarification from him on the alleged controversial aspects of ‘IC 814’.

The meeting began
According to the latest information, Netflix India’s content chief Monica Shergill has reached Shastri Bhawan in Delhi. Here her meeting has started with the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Regarding the summoning of Netflix India’s content head, government sources said, ‘No one has the right to play with the sentiments of the people of this country. India’s culture and civilization should always be respected. One should think before showing anything in a wrong way. The government is taking this very seriously.’

Let us tell you, the protest that started on social media regarding Netflix’s series ‘IC 814’ has now taken the shape of a legal case. A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court demanding a ban on the series ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’ on the OTT platform Netflix. The petition has requested to cancel the certificate allowing the screening of the series and to put an immediate ban on this show.

In Netflix’s web series, the real captain of hijacked flight IC 814, Devi Sharan and Srinjoy Chaudhary’s book ‘Flight into Fear’ has been made the basis of the show. Sanjay Sharma’s book ‘IA’s Terror Trail’ has also been referenced for facts in the show. Now it remains to be seen what action the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting takes regarding the web series after the meeting with the content head of Netflix.
