A 55-year-old man died in a suspected animal attack in the Kamalfi region of Amethi on Friday. According to police, a man named Jairam Prajapati was attacked by an unknown animal when he went to graze buffaloes in the fields. The incident took place near Talia Bagh, behind a government school.
According to eyewitnesses, farmers working in nearby fields rushed to his rescue after hearing Jerram’s screams. However, by the time the farmers reached there, the animal had seriously injured Jayaram and escaped.
Following the incident, Jayaram’s family rushed him to a community health center in Amethi, where doctors declared him dead, the news agency reported.
After the forest department officials were informed about the incident, Amethi’s DFO (departmental forest officer) Ranveer Mishra reached the spot with his team. He said that no animal footprints have been found at the incident site, so it is not yet clear which animal was attacked. He said the specific cause of death will not be known until the autopsy report is released.
After this incident, there was an atmosphere of fear among the local people because there had been no news of such attacks in the area before. The forestry department has stepped up patrols in surrounding areas and advised villagers to remain vigilant.
Officials said the matter is under full investigation and called on locals to report any suspicious activity immediately. Jairam Prajapati’s family is in grief after the incident. The police said further action will be taken on the case after the autopsy report comes out.
