Arjun Ram Meghwal proposes ‘One Nation, One Election Bill’
The party will issue notices to the BJP legislators who were not in the House when the One Nation One Election Bill was tabled in the Lok Sabha. The party made the decision based on the results of the vote. When the bill was introduced, there were only 269 votes in favor.
According to sources in the BJP, the party is currently identifying those members who were not present in the House. The party will send notices to those MPs asking why are you absent?
There were 467 votes cast, 269 of which were in favor.
A total of 467 votes were cast in the Lok Sabha. Of those, 269 voted in favor of the bill and 198 voted against it. The bill was voted on electronically in the House of Representatives for the first time. However, many members of Parliament are opposed to this arrangement.
After being tabled in the House of Representatives, it is sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). A JPC will now be formed on the bill, which will then be debated.
The cabinet will take a final decision on the bill based on the JPC’s proposal. It will then be tabled in the House of Representatives.
BJP issues 3-line whip
Ahead of tabling the bill, the BJP on Monday issued a three-line whip. Under this whip, MPs from all parties must be present in the House. Members of Congress also lost their membership due to this whip.
Nadda says abuse of Article 356 will stop
During the debate on the Constitution in the Union House, BJP national president JP Nadda said the Congress had abused Article 356 and destroyed the electoral structure of the country. Article 370 was misused 90 times during the Congress rule.
He further said that it is our responsibility to resolve this issue and we will resolve it. This is why the One Nation, One Election Bill was introduced.
