In fact, it is not new that Pakistan, as an enemy of the unity and integrity of the country, quotes the statements of Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for its own interests. But now things have become more serious. After Kalistani Gul Patwant, the current Pakistani Defense Minister is finding his voice in the tune of Rahul Gandhi. The statement of Pakistan Defense Minister on Article 370 came at a time when elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir after many years. To Pakistan’s disappointment, the Kashmir elections were not only peaceful, but the scale of the vote was beyond everyone’s expectations. In fact, the percentage of votes in Kashmir was higher than any other state in the country. Obviously, in such an environment, Pakistan is bound to suffer. But a question also arises as to why the Congress or the opposition leader would make such a statement, which could be used by India’s enemies in the international arena. Currently, the Indian political arena has become heated due to the statement of Pakistan’s Defense Minister. Home Minister Amit Shah has targeted the Congress and the National Conference for this.

1- First Gur Patwant Pannu, currently Pakistan’s defence minister, has joined the Congress.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that Pakistan is discussing the issue of restoring Article 370 with the Congress National Conference. Talking to Geo TV, Khawaja Asif said, ‘We agree with the Congress alliance’s position on Article 370. ‘I think it is possible. Both the Congress and the National Conference have significant influence. On this issue, I feel the people in the valley, that is, in the Kashmir valley, and even outside the valley, have become very motivated. His chances of coming to power are great. The status should be restored, they have made it an election issue. If the status is restored, I think the trauma of the people of Kashmir will be healed a little. Obviously, the Pakistani defence minister got energy from the National Conference’s declaration.

The National Conference manifesto promised to re-implement Article 370 in Kashmir. Since the BJP is in alliance with the National Congress in this election, obviously, this issue of removal of 370 will be intensified. Because the Congress is a national party. If a government is formed in the country, it can only be formed under the leadership of the Congress. However, in 2019, the Congress launched a fierce front in the parliament against the abolition of Article 370. But later the Congress remained silent on the issue. Even in this year’s Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, the Congress did not promise to remove Article 370 in its manifesto. Despite this, the BJP has continuously asked the Congress to clarify its stand on Article 370 due to its alliance with the National Congress.

Not only on the issue of Article 370 but also on the issue of oppression of Sikhs, such remarks made by Rahul Gandhi during his visit to the US have damaged India’s image internationally. Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on the difficulties of wearing turbans and khaddas for Sikhs in India are self-targeted by the Congress. This statement by Rahul Gandhi has given encouragement to Khalistanis at the international level. After all, if the leader of the opposition in the Indian National Congress speaks like this, then obviously the anti-India masses’ remarks are confirmed. The same thing has happened. After Rahul Gandhi’s statement on the oppression of Sikhs, the notorious Khalistani guru Patwant Pannu said that what I have been saying, Rahul Gandhi is also saying. It simply means that Sikhs are oppressed in India.

2- Congress had made the same mistake earlier and gave Pakistan an opportunity to fan the flames against India.

In September 2019, then Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan raised the issue of India’s oppression of Kashmiris during the United Nations General Assembly in New York, citing Congress. He said the Indian National Congress had also said that the poor had been locked up in their homes for 50 days. No one knew what happened to the political prisoners. At the same time, Pakistan included the remarks of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders in its anti-India documents.

The document cited Rahul Gandhi’s remarks after India’s decision to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, criticizing the Jammu and Kashmir authorities and expressing doubts about the Indian government. Imran Khan again attacked India at the UN General Assembly and said that the former Congress Home Minister had made a statement that terrorists were being trained in RSS camps. In 2013, the then Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde accused the BJP and RSS of promoting Hindu terrorism.

3- In response to the extreme nationalism of the BJP, has the Congress taken a left-wing path?

In fact, Congress had always been a nationalist party before the emergence of BJP. So, she did not make such a mistake that gave India’s enemies an opportunity. But after the rise of BJP, Congress came under the influence of the left. Especially under the influence of Sonia Gandhi, Congress was even labeled as anti-Hindu. The commission chaired by AK Antony to find out the reasons for the Congress’s defeat in 2014 also gave the same report that the party’s image was becoming anti-Hindu. This is not a coincidence in the states where BJP is strong. The polarization of Hindu votes is in favor of Congress in places where it has not been strengthened so far. Punjab and Kerala are living examples. BJP has become stronger due to the disintegration of Hindu votes of Congress. The role of people with left-wing ideas has also increased in Congress. We can regard Sam Pitroda’s remarks as a similar fair distribution of wealth. Re-implementation of Article 370 or providing fodder for Khalistani terrorists by talking about Sikh oppression is also part of this strategy.
