There has been no coordination between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding seats in Haryana and as a result, today Aam Aadmi Party released its first list of 20 candidates. Nominations have to be made in Haryana till 12th September and there are still three days left for it.

Now the question is whether talks will be held between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party for alliance or whether the first list released by Aam Aadmi Party today should be considered as a sign that talks will not be held further.

So that’s why things didn’t work out?

The important thing is that in today’s first list of 20 candidates of Aam Aadmi Party, 11 seats are those where Congress has already fielded its candidates, that is, Congress and AAP are face to face here. According to sources, Aam Aadmi Party wanted double digit i.e. 10 or more seats but Congress was not ready to give more than 3 seats. Haryana Aam Aadmi Party State President Sushil Gupta announced that Aam Aadmi Party will contest elections on all 90 seats.

Will contest elections on all 90 seats- Sushil Gupta

On the release of the first list of 20 candidates for the Haryana assembly elections, AAP’s Haryana state president Sushil Gupta said, “…we have released the first list and soon you will get the second list as well. Now there is very little time left for the elections. We waited honestly (for the alliance). We have a strong organisation in every assembly and that strong organisation wanted us to contest the elections. We showed our patience and after that we released our list… We were part of the INDIA block. We are part of the INDIA block at the national level.”

Where Congress had fielded candidates, they also declared their candidates

AAP has also fielded its candidates on the 11 seats where Congress has already declared its candidates. These include Pawan Fauji from Uchana Kalan, Vikas Nehra from Meham, Bir Singh Sarpanch from Badshahpur, Gurpal Singh from Narayangarh, Bittu Pehalwan from Samalkha, Kuldeep Gadrana from Dabwali, Bijendra Hooda from Rohtak, Kuldeep Chikara from Bahadurgarh, Ranbir Gulia from Badli, Sonu Ahlawat from Beri and Manish Yadav from Mahendragarh. Congress has already fielded its candidates on all these seats.

AAP-Congress fought the Lok Sabha elections together

Let us tell you that AAP and Congress, partners in the ‘INDIA’ block, fought the recent Lok Sabha elections together in Haryana, Gujarat and Delhi. In Haryana, AAP was given the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha seat. The party’s state chief Sushil Gupta contested from Kurukshetra, but lost to BJP’s Naveen Jindal.

The ruling BJP and opposition Congress in Haryana are also facing strong opposition from their respective leaders over ticket distribution. AAP claimed that many disgruntled leaders of BJP and Congress are ready to join the party (AAP) in Haryana. The last date for filing nominations for Haryana elections is September 12 and assembly elections are to be held in the state on October 5.
