Why are Airtel-Jio tensions rising over Starlink? Learn how to make calls without a SIM card and network

Starlink India may soon launch satellite internet services. The Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRAI) will soon allocate spectrum for satellite communications in India. To this end, things will be completed by December 15 next month. Elon Musk’s satellite internet service has heightened tensions between Indian telecom operators Airtel and Jio. Musk’s company has applied to launch satellite internet services in India in October 2022. Apart from Starlink, Jio, Airtel, Amazon and Vi are also racing to launch satellite internet services.

Starlink’s satellite internet service is now available in many countries around the world. In this service, users can make calls even without any mobile network and SIM card. Additionally, users will also get the facility of high-speed internet. Elon Musk’s satellite internet service will be different from other companies’ satellite internet services. Additionally, users may get better internet connections.

How does Starlink work?

Most satellite Internet services are provided by a geostationary satellite, which is located at an altitude of 35,786 kilometers above the ground. Due to the high altitude, the latency of this satellite is very high, which makes streaming, video gaming, and video calling almost impossible i.e. users face a lot of difficulty in accessing the internet.

More than 40,000 small satellites

At the same time, the Starlink satellites are only 550 kilometers above the ground. Users’ devices continue to get connections from these satellites in low Earth orbit, so latency is low and there are no issues accessing the internet. Elon Musk’s company has launched about 42,000 tablet-sized satellites into low-Earth orbit, which help with internet connectivity and better network coverage. However, apart from Starlink, satellite internet services such as Airtel OneWeb, BSNL-Viasat and Amazon Kuiper are also operating in low-Earth orbit.

This way you can get an internet connection

Starlink uses thousands of small satellites instead of one large satellite. To use Starlink’s satellite service, users must install an antenna that captures signals from the satellite and provides Internet access. Starlink’s satellite internet service reportedly allows users to access the internet at speeds of up to 150Mbps. Users can access the internet at this speed without any interruptions. Additionally, users can make calls even without any mobile network and SIM card.
