Israel Katz was born in 1955 in the Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon. Katz joined the Army in 1973 and retired in 1977 as a paratrooper. Katz attended graduate and postgraduate studies at the Hebrew University of Israel. He is married and has two children.

Katz allegedly failed to clearly condemn Iran’s missile attack on Israel.
