The Election Commission on Tuesday announced the dates for the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. In addition, by-elections have been announced for 48 seats in different states. 10 seats in UP will go to by-elections. Milkipur seat is the most discussed among them. Awadhesh Prasad, a Samajwadi Party MP from the seat contested the Lok Sabha election and won. After losing the 2022 assembly elections, he filed a petition against the victory of Samajwadi Party candidate Awadhesh Prasad.

What does the Election Commission say?
According to the Election Commission, polling will be held on November 13 in UP’s Karhal, Kundarki, Katehari, Sisamau, Khair, Ghaziabad Sadar, Mirapur, Majhwa and Phulpur seats. Counting will take place on November 23. There will be no by-election in Milkipur constituency as the matter is pending before the courts.
