What are the charges against Arun Valmiki?
That’s October 2021. Priyanka Gandhi was in Agra to meet a family whose members were allegedly murdered in police custody. This person is none other than Arun Valmiki, whom Priyanka mentioned today. Arun is accused of stealing around Rs 25 lakh from Jagdishpura police station in Agra.
He was later arrested and allegedly died in police custody, according to media reports. Later there were reports that Arun Valmiki’s health deteriorated during police interrogation. Priyanka later said the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh is shocking.
Arun is accused of stealing money from Malkana, where the items seized by police were stored. Arun Valmiki worked as a sanitation worker at Jagdishpura police station.
After the theft, six police officers were suspended. After the incident, people from the Valmiki community gathered at Arun’s house and demanded a transparent investigation into the matter.
