Fake bomb threats continue to be received against Air India. As a result, routes are constantly changing and flights are delayed or even cancelled. New news recently came to light that 70% of eagle threats come from the same Twitter user, Adam Lanza. And, the message for everyone was pretty much the same – no one would live. Evacuate the plane now. The relevant Twitter account has been suspended, but a person with this name caused a massacre in an American elementary school in 2012.
In December 2012, 20-year-old Adam Lanza committed a horrific incident at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, USA. Adam entered the school and opened fire indiscriminately, killing 20 children aged 6 to 8 and 6 adults. It is considered one of the most horrific incidents ever to occur in an American school.
As soon as the sun rose on December 14, the incident began. Adam first shot and killed his mother, Nancy Lanza. Then, he drove his mother’s car to the elementary school. He has no connection with this school, it’s just that this school is closest to his home.
When Adam entered the school around 9:30 a.m., he was armed. He owned a semi-automatic rifle and two handguns, CNN reported. He was also wearing a military vest. Once inside, Adam started shooting. School staff present also attempted to rescue the children. Many hide behind shelves or in bathrooms. However, few survive. When police arrived at the scene, Adam also shot himself.
The incident sparked a major debate about gun control in the United States. In addition to this, the importance of identifying and treating adverse mental health conditions is also discussed. In fact, Adam had struggled with many mental issues over the years. He suffers from autism, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression and other diseases. Later, the investigative agency also admitted that his mother was overprotective of him and even made him drop out of school. He has lived at home for many years.
While struggling with mental issues, he took his mother’s gun away. However, where he got the remaining weapons and why he, along with his mother, targeted the school were never revealed. This remains a mysterious case. What happened was that during the court hearing of the case, all such cases of mass murder from 1786 to 2012 were discussed.
The FBI released numerous documents, including an interview with a woman in which she admitted that even after meeting him online for a few days, she understood that Adam often talked about the bloodshed. Now the threats that airlines receive are related to social accounts with this name, which is even more terrifying. The account has been suspended and the investigation is ongoing.
Such threatening calls are not new to the airline industry. Also in early June, about 40 airports received bomb threats from Hawkes in one day. According to the BBC, a total of 120 such threats were received between 2014 and 2017, half of which were targeted at the busiest airports such as Delhi and Mumbai.
What does it do?
More than three thousand apartments are being built every day in the country. There are more than 150 operating airports. There are also 33 international airports among them. According to data from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, there were approximately 150 million domestic trips last year. That’s a huge number, and its impact is equally widespread. It’s the holidays right now. Travel is for personal and business purposes. In this case, threatening phone calls or text messages are not to be taken lightly.
Every time such a threat emerges, intensive search operations are carried out. So not just one flight is delayed, the entire flight schedule is affected. Many times flights are cancelled. The money has to be returned, or the passenger has to stay somewhere for a few hours. All this comes at a great cost. Furthermore, if certain airlines are threatened again and again, it can damage their image, and the effects can last for a long time.
