The Devendra Fadnavis government was formed after winning the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar become deputy chief ministers, but cabinet expansion is pending. Finally, Devendra’s cabinet was expanded on Sunday with 39 ministers sworn in. Among them, 33 cabinet ministers and 6 state ministers were sworn in. Hours before the Cabinet expansion ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar said the tenure of some of the oath-takers would be two-and-a-half years.
The Bharatiya Janata Party, the largest party among the allies, bagged 19 ministerial posts, while Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress bagged 11 and nine ministerial posts respectively.
