The ruling Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi can implement its ambitious plan to provide Rs 1,000 monthly honorarium to women after the Haryana Assembly elections. It is reported that the paperwork for the plan has been basically completed.

The AAP government in Delhi can implement its ambitious plan Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana in the national capital after the Haryana elections, officials said on Tuesday. Because the paperwork for the plan is almost complete and can be presented “soon” at the first cabinet meeting of the Atish government. As of Wednesday, the General Administration Department (GDA) had requested agenda items from multiple departments.

He said the proposal for the plan will be sent to the relevant ministries of finance, law and taxation for comments before being sent to the cabinet for approval. Once the plan is approved by the cabinet, it will be submitted to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi for approval.

These women can take advantage of the program

According to officials, the benefits of the scheme will be available to women between the ages of 18 and 60 who are neither government employees nor tax payers. Women are eligible to receive gratuity under the Mukhyamantri Samman Yojana as long as they present their self-declaration and Aadhar card.

According to official estimates, the scheme could benefit around 5 million women in Delhi. Atishi had earlier said the program could be launched in September or October.

Meanwhile, AAP convener and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier promised to provide Rs 1,000 to the women after their release from jail.

Officials said preparations for implementing the plan have been stepped up after Kejriwal was released from prison and Atish resigned to become chief minister.

“Planning procedures completed”

Delhi Women and Child Development Minister Kailash Gehlot said, “All formalities related to our commitment to provide Rs 1,000 to women above 18 years of age have been completed. It will be submitted to the cabinet for approval soon.”

He said the scheme will be implemented before the Delhi elections due in February as the budget for the scheme has already been allocated.

Rs 2,000 crore was allocated to implement the schemes announced in the Delhi government’s budget for 2024-25 presented by Atishi, the then finance minister in the Kejriwal government.

A senior official said the government plans to announce the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana after the Haryana elections as AAP, which has fielded candidates in all seats in the state, is busy campaigning in the state. Polling for the Haryana elections will be held on October 5 and the results will be announced on October 8.
