Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan
Union Agriculture Minister and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan issued a statement on ‘One Nation, One Election’. Speaking at a rally, he explained why “one country, one choice” was important to the country. Shivraj said, I am the agriculture minister but when the elections come, I am still busy campaigning. This is a waste of time and money.
Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, “I was the Agriculture Minister but when the elections came, I was busy campaigning for three months. As a result, the time of the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, Ministers, MPs, MLAs, officials and employees were wasted , all development work has stopped. Then new announcements have to be made. Not only that, but there is huge expenditure, and the election committee also spends that money, which belongs to the people, and then the political parties also spend it. A lot of time.
What else did Shivraj Singh Chauhan say?
Shivraj Singh Chauhan further said that now when elections are held in other states, Haryana officials will go as observers. Your work here will be suspended for 2-3 months. It would be a waste of time if they went there to conduct elections. This is a waste of money and hinders our development.

Addressing the people, the Agriculture Minister said that these elections will continue and therefore by amending the constitution, all Assembly and Lok Sabha elections should be held simultaneously every five years and for this we should create public awareness.
Government accepts recommendations
The central government has accepted the high-level committee’s recommendation to hold simultaneous elections in September. As part of the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative, the government in September agreed to a high-level committee’s recommendation to hold phased elections for Lok Sabha, Parliament and local bodies simultaneously, PTI reported.
In its report to the government ahead of the announcement of a general election in March, the group recommended implementing “one country, one election” in two stages.
