When skydiving for the first time, know who accomplished the feat

On October 22, 1797, Frenchman André-Jacques Garnerin made the first successful parachute jump in Parc Monceau, Paris. He descended approximately 3,000 feet (910 m) from a hot air balloon using a silk parachute. Garnerin is believed to be the first person to successfully use a parachute.

Previously, Frenchman Louis-Sébastien Lenormand had made a parachute out of two umbrellas in 1783 and jumped from a tree, but André-Jacques Garnerin was the first to design and test such a parachute that people could successfully jumped from the tree. Very high altitude and descent.

Successful first skydive
On October 22, 1797, Ganaline attached a parachute to the hydrogen balloon and ascended to an altitude of 3,200 feet. He then climbed into the basket attached to it and separated the parachute from the balloon. Garnerin suffered severe vibrations during his first skydive, but he landed half a mile from where the balloon took off, shaken but uninjured. To reduce vibrations, Ganaline made some further improvements, and the first perforated parachute was born.

Garnerin dies in hot air balloon accident
In 1799, Garnerin’s wife, Jeanne-Genevieve, became the first female skydiver. In 1802, Ganaline jumped from an altitude of 8,000 feet during an exhibition in England. He died in a balloon accident in 1823 while preparing to test a new parachute.

The parachute was conceived by Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci was the first person to imagine and sketch a parachute in the fifteenth century. Inspired by Leonardo’s design, Faust Francis unsuccessfully jumped from a Venetian tower in 1617 wearing a rigid-frame parachute. Since then, many similar efforts have been made. The most successful parachute jump was first completed in 1797 by Andre Garnerin.
