When his mother did not give him 50 rupees, he got angry, picked up his grandmother and threw her from the balcony.

A grandson killed his grandmother in agony in Kawadiguda, Secunderabad, Telangana. He threw the old woman off the balcony and killed her. In this tragic incident, which occurred on October 21, 2024 at approximately 5:00 pm, the defendant committed the crime following a fight.

The victim was identified as 76-year-old Kotha Sushila, who lived with her daughter Challa Kalavati and two grandchildren Nitin (32) and Gopi (29). According to police, the accused Nitin works as a security guard at the TSPDCL mint. He has suffered from mental health issues since 2015, but is reportedly stable and employed.

Before the incident, Nitin had a dispute with his brother Gopi. After an argument, Nitin asked his mother for 50 rupees. When she refused, he threatened to harm his grandmother Kota Sushila.

According to the police report, Nitin threw his grandmother, who was sitting on a chair on the second-floor balcony, onto the concrete path below as Kalavati filled water below. Kalavati’s family members, including her sister and brother-in-law, ran away after seeing Sushila fall from the terrace, but she remained motionless. When an ambulance was called, paramedics confirmed Sushila died at the scene from severe injuries to her legs, arms and head.

Mother makes serious accusations

The complainant, Challa Kalavati, asked the police to take legal action against her son Nitin, accusing him of intentionally causing her grandmother’s death. A case has been registered at Gandhinagar police station and investigation is ongoing.

Authorities have detained Nitin for questioning and further action is expected as the investigation progresses. The incident shocked the local community, and many people expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
