When Govinda signed 75 films at the age of 21, Dilip Kumar asked him to reduce the load and said – ‘How will I return the money’

One of the biggest stars of Bollywood in the 90s, the stories of Govinda are as fun as his films. Govinda, popular among the public in the image of the king of comedy films, has actually worked in all types of films. Govinda, who debuted in the 80s, got a lot of popularity from the very beginning and he always had a glut of films.

Govinda is also known in the industry for the fact that he used to shoot for many films in a single day. But once Govinda had done wonders. He had signed 75 films simultaneously and that too in the initial phase of his career.

Govinda once told that at the age of 21, he had signed 75 films simultaneously and Dilip Kumar advised him to leave 25 of them.

In a podcast interview with Manish Paul, Govinda had said, ‘Where did I come into the film line… God had given the film line that brother, take care of it!’ In the same conversation, Govinda had told that Bollywood legend Dilip Kumar had advised him to leave 25 out of 75 films, but by then he had taken advance payment from the producers of these films. Govinda had told Dilip Sahab, ‘How will I return the money?’

Govinda did not sleep for two weeks
Govinda also told that he often fell ill and often had to go to the hospital because he was working continuously. He had made this shocking revelation that once he did not sleep for 16 days because he was working continuously on the set for two weeks.

Govinda made his Bollywood debut with the 1986 film ‘Love 86’. In the initial phase of his career, he had done many films like ‘Ilzaam’, ‘Sada Suhagan’, ‘Dadagiri’, ‘Do Qaidi’, ‘Khudgarj’ and ‘Paap Ko Jalakar Ash Kar Dunga’. In the 90s, Govinda worked extensively in comedy films with director David Dhawan.

This actor-director duo delivered many popular comedy films like ‘Hero No. 1’, ‘Coolie No. 1’, ‘Had Kar Di Aapne’ and ‘Dulhe Raja’. Govinda was last seen on the big screen in the film ‘Rangeela Raja’ released in 2019.
