Mohan Bhagwat came to Mathura to attend the All India Sangh Executive Committee meeting. He is on a 10-day visit to Mathura. The 45-minute closed-door meeting is considered very important in political circles. In this meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath formally invited Mohan Bhagwat to Mahakum, but it was discussed that the meeting was not just a formality. According to sources, during this period, there were intensive discussions on Awami League politics, especially the upcoming by-elections and the role of Sangh workers.
Mohan Bhagwat’s stay in Gorakhpur became a topic of discussion after the secret meeting between Yogi and Bhagwat came to light after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, these reports were not confirmed at the time. But now this formal meeting in Mathura is a sign that things are getting normal between the Sangh, the BJP and Yogi Adityanath.
So Yogi and Bhagwat met in Mathura.
Days after the results of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections were announced, there were reports on whether Yogi Adityanath and Mohan Bhagwat would meet. Except for The Indian Express, no one has confirmed the news of the Yogi-Bhagwat meeting.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Pakkibag, English newspaper The Indian Express reported , where he held a closed-door meeting with Mohan Bhagwat. According to the Indian Express, the meeting took place around 8.30 am and lasted for about half an hour.
As for the Mathura meeting, it is said that the meeting between the two leaders was like the Gorakhpur incident reported by The Indian Express, but the meeting lasted for 45 minutes – it is reported that Yogi Adityanath Sangh Chairman Mohan Bhagwat Bhagwat) has been officially invited to Mahakumbh.
According to sources, the meeting also discussed the strategy for by-elections in nine seats in Uttar Pradesh and seriously discussed the mobilization of Sangh workers and feedback from the Sangh. It is said that like Haryana, the Sangh will now be on the ground floor with the BJP in Uttar Pradesh too.
We met, what happened?
An obvious question is, will the UP by-election be discussed for only 45 minutes? The invitation ceremony itself lasts no more than a minute or two – and these two stalwarts are not going to be silent the rest of the time.
So what could have happened?
The meeting will definitely be held in Mathura, but there will not be any discussion about Mathura. Ever since Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, he has not forgotten to visit Mathura on the occasion of Holi – and it should not be forgotten that Mohan Bhagwat ) has distanced the RSS from the Mathura issue. The question was raised while drawing attention to slogans related to the temple movement following the Supreme Court verdict in the Ayodhya case. That slogan was, Ayodhya is just a glimpse, Kashi and Mathura are still there.
Mohan Bhagwat then made it clear that he had nothing to do with the Mathura issue and would never have anything to do with it. The Ayodhya movement started with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and later the Sangh also joined it and then Mohan Bhagwat made it clear that the mission was accomplished and the Sangh would once again take up the work of nation building and personal building.
If Mathura is not discussed, then there is no special significance in discussing Kashgar. The Vishwanath Corridor was to be built in Kashgar and it has already been built. And, now the Prime Minister calls Varanasi a big hub for medical facilities – as far as Ayodhya is concerned, no significant discussion can be had on this at the moment as by-elections are yet to be held for the Mirkipur assembly seat.
Of course, the defeat in Ayodhya is an important issue for the BJP, but the role of Yogi Adityanath and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh are both being considered in it – because due to The arrogance of the BJP leadership, both Yogi Adityanath and Mohan Bhagwat, has limited their role to a point.
Yogi Adityanath expressed his views only when BJP president JP Nadda recalled the defeat of the BJP. Why did the BJP lose the Faizabad seat? How did it get down to almost half the seats compared to five years ago?
Yogi Adityanath said the BJP is in this situation because of its overconfidence. Even Mohan Bhagwat would agree with what Yogi Adityanath said about extreme self-confidence. You must have heard about the Sangh from JP Nadda. During the Lok Sabha elections, JP Nadda had said that the BJP has now become very capable and does not need the Sangh as much as before. Clearly, JP Nadda is pointing the finger at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah – he will think that the BJP is now invincible.
There are still some questions
1. Will Yogi Adityanath talk about himself to Mohan Bhagwat?
2. Will Yogi Adityanath also talk about the situation of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh and seek some kind of help from the Sangh?
3. Would Mohan Bhagwat give any special advice to Yogi Adityanath? Will there be any mention of the BJP leadership in it?
