Today the first presidential debate took place between former US President and Republican Party’s presidential candidate Donald Trump and Democratic Party’s candidate Vice President Kamala Harris. President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race and Kamala Harris’ entry into the race has made the US elections interesting and this was proved by watching the presidential debate.
In many polls conducted before the debate, both the candidates were seen giving tough competition to each other, during the debate too, a close contest was seen between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Sometimes Trump and sometimes Harris were seen dominating each other.
Trump surrounds Harris
As was expected, during the debate, Donald Trump made personal attacks against Harris. While answering a question about the US economy, he called Harris and her father Marxists.
Trump said, ‘Whatever she believed three years ago and four years ago, it’s all gone. Now she’s moving towards my philosophy. She’s a Marxist. Everyone knows she’s a Marxist. Her father is a Marxist professor in economics. He gave Harris a good education.’ Kamala Harris was seen laughing during Trump’s comment.
Trump left no stone unturned in targeting Harris over the actions of the Joe Biden administration. Trump said that crime in America has increased to record levels during the Biden administration. After his statement, Kamala Harris personally attacked Trump and said that such a comment does not look good coming from a person who has been charged with criminal charges several times.
In response to which Trump denied the allegations against him and claimed that all these cases against him were politically motivated.
Meanwhile, Trump blamed the Democratic Party for the deadly attack on him on July 13. He said, ‘I may have been shot in the head because of the things they (Democrats) said about me. They talk about democracy, I am a threat to democracy. They are a threat to democracy.’
Harris-Trump clashed over abortion rights in America
During the debate, both candidates were seen clashing with each other on the issue of abortion.
While Trump was seen defending the abortion policy, Kamala Harris called it a right of women and was seen advocating it. She said that Trump should not tell women what to do with their bodies.
Harris said, ‘The government and Donald Trump should not tell women what they should do with their bodies.’
Harris cornered Trump and said that if Trump wins the election, he will pass a bill banning abortion across the country. She said that the government should not make rules for the freedom to take decisions related to the body.
Trump’s absurd claims on the issue of immigrants and Harris’s counter attack
Trump said during the debate that the number of immigrants in America has increased to a record level during the Biden administration. He claimed that Haitian immigrants are living in large numbers in Ohio and they are eating the pets of the American people there.
“I’ve heard people on TV say my dogs were stolen and eaten,” Trump said.
However, this claim of Trump has already been rejected because no evidence has been found of immigrants eating meat of pets.
In response to Trump’s comment on the issue of immigrants, Kamala Harris said that Trump stopped a bill brought about immigrants through lobbying. Harris said that Trump did not let the bill pass for his electoral benefit. She said, ‘Instead of ending a problem, he preferred to fight the election by making it an issue.’
Harris said during the debate that if she wins, passing the Bipartition Border Bill will be her priority. This bill will restrict the entry of immigrants into America illegally.
Meanwhile, while answering a question, Trump targeted Joe Biden and said, “The Democrats ‘kicked him out of the election campaign like a dog.’ We have a president who doesn’t even know he’s alive.”
Harris replies, ‘You are not running against Joe Biden, but against me.’

During the debate, Trump was seen cornering Kamala Harris and her government on the Israel-Gaza war and the Russia-Ukraine war. He said that if he were the president, Israel would not have been attacked.
He said Russian President Putin has nuclear weapons and Harris and President Joe Biden have failed to prevent war.
Harris hit back, saying that Trump believes that he will end the war in Ukraine very quickly. That is, Trump will hand over Ukraine to Vladimir Putin.
Harris said, ‘If Donald Trump were president, Putin would be sitting in (Ukrainian capital) Kyiv right now. We Americans are not like that. Putin is a dictator who will not spare you either.’
Kamala Harris further said that Trump was happy with Putin’s victory in Ukraine and he wrote ‘love letters’ to Kim.
Trump cornered Harris on Israel-Hamas war
Trump said that Kamala Harris hates Israel. Trump further said, ‘I will try to solve this as soon as possible and if I become the President, I will also try to end the Russia-Ukraine war as soon as possible. I will do this even before becoming the President.’
In response, Harris further said about the war, ‘We know only one thing and that is that this war must end, it must end immediately. We want a ceasefire and return of the hostages. We will continue to work in this direction.’
What did Trump say about Kamala Harris’s Indian origin?
Donald Trump has previously targeted Kamala Harris for being black and of Indian and Jamaican descent. He says that Harris changes colour according to the people and sometimes she becomes black and sometimes of Indian descent. Trump has also made fun of Kamala’s name many times.
But during this debate, he seemed to avoid such comments on Harris. He said, ‘I don’t care what she is. I have no problem with whatever she wants to be.’
