The landslide that occurred in Wayanad on July 30, 2024 was the worst disaster since 2018. Last time more than 400 people were killed due to floods. This study has been done by the World Weather Attribution Group (WWAG). According to this, the rainfall that occurred in Wayanad in the 24 hours before the accident was 10 percent more in terms of intensity. The reason is climate change.

State Chief Minister Pinnarai Vijayan blamed the disaster on heavy rains. He said that the area where the accident occurred had received 23 inches of rain within 48 hours. That means 572 mm. Whereas 8 inches of rain i.e. 204 mm of rain was predicted. That means it rained twice as much. But it is not the rain’s fault.

According to which the earth is warming, more incidents like Wayanad will happen.
