New Delhi:
India will never interact on gunpoint, nor will it hurry in any deal on the issues in the interest of its people, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said that Washington had put on New Delhi for a period of 90 days after Donald Trump’s mutual tariff “stop”. The move was seen as a limited window for India and the United States to rapidly eliminate a bilateral trade agreement, which is currently being interacted by both sides.
We will always put India first and ensure that a deal is finalized keeping in mind that feeling, the minister said, “lack of time” can only be seen as a motivational factor. “We never interact on gun tip. Favorable time obstacles motivate us to intensity, but we do not hurry up until we are able to secure the interests of our country and our people (in any deal),” said Mr. Goyal.
Speaking at the Italy-India Business, Science and Technology Forum, Mr. Goel gave an update about how India’s trade talks are moving forward with the US, UK, European Union and many other countries at the global level. He said, “All our business talks are moving well in India’s spirit first, and to ensure our path for India until 2047 in the nectar period,” he said without the nuances of any deal.
However, he mentioned that “trade talks move forward when the two sides are sensitive to each other’s concerns and needs.”
Meanwhile, on another platform – Carnegie Global Technology Summit – External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also talked about India’s trade talks with the United States and India’s business talks with the block.
Talking about India’s preparation amidst highly pressure conversations since the announcement of the mutual tariff of Donald Trump, which dynamically replaced the global trade, Dr. Jaishankar said that India is definitely ready for high level urgency in reaching the trade deal in relation to the United States. He said that Washington has “fundamentally changed its attitude to join the world and has results in every domain.”
Dr. Jaishankar said that America has been very ambitious that the global landscape is now very different, which was a year ago. The Foreign Minister said the trade deal with the United States has been very challenging.
“This time, we are definitely very much ready for urgency.
He further stated that the US has a approach to India, India, the United States has a approach – and this is something they did not find for the last time. “We first talked to four years during the Trump administration. They have their own view, and clearly, we have their approach. The lines below are that they did not find it.”
Speaking of trade talks with the European Union, the minister said, “Therefore, if you look at the European Union, people often say that we have been interacting for 30 years, which is not completely true because we had big blocks of time and no one was talking to each other.
Dr. Jaishankar highlighted that China’s decisions are similar to the US when it falls into the global market, adding that trade and technology affects the US-China dynamic.
