After Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh, Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh is also under the terror of wolves. Recently, a wild animal had made 5 people its prey. After this incident, a video of an unconscious wolf being dragged with a rope has surfaced. It is claimed that the villagers had caught the wolf, but later it fainted and when they left it there, the animal ran away into the forest. This clip has surfaced on social media at a time when the attack of wolves in Bahraich district of neighboring Uttar Pradesh has kept the forest officials on alert.

In fact, last Friday morning, a wild dog-like animal attacked 3 men and 2 women sleeping in the open in Malgaon village of tribal-dominated Khalwa tehsil. This place is 20 km away from Khandwa district headquarters.

“We have also received a video clip in which a fainted sheep is being dragged. We are confirming it,” East Kalibhit forest sub-divisional officer Sandeep Vaskale told a news agency over the phone.

Residents of Malgaon told officials that the animal was captured on the spot but it fainted. When they left it for a while, the jackal fled into a forest near the river, the official said, citing statements from locals. According to officials, canids, including foxes and wolves, pretend to be lifeless before fleeing in difficult situations.

The forest official said five people bitten by the wild animal suffered minor injuries. They were admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Khandwa and given anti-rabies injections and other medicines. He said wolves have large and sharp canines and cause deep wounds, which suggests the wild animal was probably a wolf.

The forest official said that our two teams of seven to eight people are still searching for the wild animal. Earlier, officials had claimed that the wolf had attacked the villagers.

The attack by the wild animal in Madhya Pradesh has come at a time when incidents of wolves targeting humans in Uttar Pradesh are making national headlines. In Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, wolves, bigger in size than jackals, killed at least six people and injured many in a very short time.
