Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday raised questions about the Inner Mongolia Railway Project in Kerala. He warned of a strike in the House of Representatives due to delays in work on the rail project. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav responded to Tharoor’s statement. He said if necessary, the MPs could go on strike over the land acquisition issue for the Tharoor project. “Our focus is on reducing congestion at large stations and junctions,” he said.
Shashi Tharoor, MP from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, spoke about delays and lack of funds at the Inner Mongolia Railway Terminal project in his constituency. Asking a supplementary question to Congress leaders during question hour, Tharoor said the project would help reduce congestion on the railway lines leading to Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station.
‘Government’s focus is on reducing congestion at intersections’
In this regard, Railway Minister Vaishnav said that the government’s focus is to ensure that congestion is reduced in major cities and junctions so that people do not face any type of problems. New terminals should be constructed and great emphasis should be placed on the design of the terminals to meet the needs of the next 50 years.

Meanwhile, the Railway Minister said that the problem in Kerala is not about money. He said we have deposited Rs 2,150 crore for land acquisition. Shashi Tharoor is an influential MP. In this case, the whole of Kerala will listen to him. The minister said he requested the MPs to sit before the state government if necessary and ensure that the land acquisition work is completed on time.
Earlier, the Union Railway Minister wrote to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, calling for resolving technical and environmental issues and restarting the stalled railway project. He has said the Kerala government’s stalled railway projects can move forward if technical and environmental issues are resolved.
