Voter turnout exceeded 50% within 8 hours

According to the Electoral Commission, turnout in both seats exceeded 50% in the first eight hours. In Wayanad, 50.63% voting was held till 3 pm, while in Cherakala, 50.86% voting was held till 3 pm. As of 5 pm, 61% of votes were cast in Wayanad. However, the vote percentage may increase as the committee has not released the final vote percentage yet.
Polling in both seats in the southern state of Kerala was conducted peacefully amid tight security arrangements. Although some polling stations complained of EVM malfunctions, voting was not significantly disrupted.
