Wayanad Landslides: Family lost in landslide, now husband dies in car accident… woman in deep sorrow

Hundreds of people lost their lives in the devastating landslide that struck Wayanad district of Kerala in July. Many families were uprooted and there was mourning at the time of the landslide. Among them was Shruti (24), who lost her entire family and is now going through a difficult time. On Wednesday, Shrupi suffered another major setback when her fiancé Jensen died after a car accident.

Dr. Moopen Medical College spokesperson confirmed that Jensen was seriously injured due to multiple injuries sustained during the accident and died at 8:50 pm. According to a PTI report, doctors said that he had a profuse nosebleed and had internal brain injuries.

How did the accident happen?

Jensen met with an accident on Tuesday when his car collided with a private bus. Shruti and several members of Jensen’s family who were in the car were injured. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Jensen could not be saved.

On July 30, nine members of Shruti’s family, including her parents (Shivanna, Sabita) and her younger sister Shreya, were killed in a landslide in Chooralmala and Mundakkai villages of Meppadi panchayat. The disaster changed her life suddenly. After losing several family members, Shruti’s support was her husband Jensen. The couple got engaged on June 2, a few weeks before the tragedy.

On August 29, Shruti and Jensen went to the Puthumala crematorium where some of their family members were cremated. A few days later, their world was shattered again when Jensen was seriously injured in a car accident.

had made plans to get married

Shruti and Jensen had initially planned a grand wedding in December but after the landslide, they decided to have a simple registered marriage in a court in September.

Expressing condolences over the tragic events, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan offered condolences to the families of Jensen and Shruti and said, “This is very sad news. Nothing can compensate for the losses caused by disasters. Now we can assure you that the state is with you, Shruti. May you get the strength to overcome the challenges and pain.”
