Wayanad landslide: 144 people died in devastation due to landslide, Malayalam industry postponed the release of the film.

Due to the disaster that has occurred in Wayanad, Kerala, 144 people have died so far. In fact, within a span of 4 hours on the morning of July 30, three landslides occurred in the hilly areas near Meppadi, causing devastation in the villages of Mundakkai, Churalmala, Attamala and Noolpuzha. Hundreds of people were swept away in the Chaliyar river. According to government figures, more than 180 people are feared trapped under the debris. State government agencies including the Army and NDRF are running the rescue operation. The next one week is still being said to be dangerous.

Events canceled and film releases postponed
Army and NDRF have come forward to help the people in such times. Besides, Malayalam film industry has also extended a helping hand. The film industry observed a minute of silence for those who lost their lives in this disaster. Also, film releases and major events have been postponed.

The release date of this thriller film ‘Footage’, produced by Saiju Sreedharan, has been postponed. However, it has not been told yet when it will be released. While sharing the post on social media, the film makers wrote – Our prayers are with the people of Wayanad. The film ‘Footage’ was scheduled to release on August 2, but now it will not happen. Will release it some other day. For now its release has been postponed. Let us tell you that Gayatri Ashok, Vishak Nair and Manju Warrier will be seen in lead roles in the film.

Apart from this, the release of Tovino Thomas’ big budget film Ajayante Randam Moshanam has also been rescheduled. The direction of this film has been handled by Jitin Lal. While sharing the post, the makers wrote – In view of the disaster that has occurred in Wayanad, we will not give the update which was to be given on 31st July. The update of the film has been postponed. The South Indian Film Academy has also postponed its film Vidyarambham. Association of Malayalam Movie Artists has canceled the press conference of Entertainment Awards Night.
