A government report has raised concerns amid the situation of torrential rains and floods in many places in India. The Water Commission report on flood affected areas states that in the last 37 years, more than 2 crore hectares of land across the country has been destroyed due to floods. It has been told in this report that between the year 1986 and 2022, 2.05 crore hectares of land has been destroyed in 712 districts of the country.
