Weeks of anger, demonstrations and the dam of patience broke on Wednesday night when the crowd of thousands that reached Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital went out of control. The crowd demanding ‘justice’ suddenly became ‘violent’ and broke the police barricade and entered inside. The placards in their hands demanding justice were replaced by sticks and the policemen standing in defense were seen running away to save their lives.

The police resorted to lathicharge and released tear gas shells to disperse the angry mob. During this period some policemen were also injured.
Kolkata Police says that some unknown miscreants vandalized the RG Kar Medical College. A group of about 40 people were among the protesters. These same people carried out violence in the hospital. During this period, police vehicles and some two-wheelers were also damaged.
