In Karnataka, politics has intensified over the issue of notifying Muslim farmers by declaring their lands as waqf property. Meanwhile, the state’s chief minister Siddaramaiah has taken a big decision. He has ordered cancellation of all previous notifications issued to farmers regarding waqf land issue.
The Chief Minister, during a meeting with senior officials of the Revenue, Minority Welfare Department and Waqf Board, directed that the notification issued to farmers be withdrawn immediately. Addressing the meeting, CM Siddaramaiah spoke about the latest developments and expressed deep dissatisfaction over the notices issued to farmers by the Waqf Board.
Chief ordered not to harass farmers
Apart from this, Siddaramaiah also spoke about the action against some officials in the meeting. In the meantime, he said if there are any revisions in Pihani, they should be canceled immediately and the notices issued to farmers should be withdrawn immediately. The chief minister issued strict orders to officials not to harass farmers in future.

Earlier, while reacting to the waqf land dispute, CM Siddaramaiah assured farmers that no farmer would be evicted from his land. Apart from this, he also said that if a notice is issued to any farmer, it will be withdrawn.
Farmers’ land told to be waqf property
In fact, in Karnataka, a notification was issued declaring that the land of Muslim farmers was the property of the Waqf Board. Along with farmers in Vijaypura in the state, farmers from Kalaburagi, Bidar and Shivamogga also lodged complaints. The farmers said the Waqf Board had issued a notice asking them to vacate the land, on which they had been cultivating for the past few years. He said he had rights to the land and had complete documentation to prove it.
