Wall of building collapsed in strong storm, landslide took lives of 15 people in China

An incident of landslide due to heavy rain has come to light in Yulin village of Hengyang city of Hunan province of China. In this incident, 15 people lost their lives and six others were injured. The landslide occurred around 8 pm on Sunday, in which 18 people were buried after a portion of a residential building collapsed.

It is being told that more than 300 rescue forces were deployed at the incident site and the injured were taken to hospitals. All the people buried under the debris have been rescued, in which 15 bodies were recovered. Six people have been rescued from the debris, in which some people were seriously injured.

Heavy rain after cyclonic storm

It is being told that there was heavy rain due to cyclonic storm Gaemi. Although it was a cyclone at first, it subsided by July 28. Due to this, there are flood like situations in many cities of China and an alert has also been issued regarding floods in some cities. Even after Gaemi subsided, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of rain in some areas.

Flood like situation in 20 major rivers in China

China has been battling severe floods since the beginning of the rainy season on April 1. Due to extremely heavy rains, 20 major rivers have flooded across the country, due to which many deaths have occurred in different cities and thousands of people have been evacuated to safe places. Due to climate change, the weather conditions are worsening all over the world and the recent incident in China is also considered to be a result of this.

The National Meteorological Center has issued several warnings, including a “yellow” alert for torrential rains affecting several provinces. The Meteorological Department has estimated 80 mm of rain per hour. Due to worsening weather, arrangements are also being made at the local level.
