Wall collapsed during the construction of a drain in Etawah, three died and two were injured after being buried under the debris

Three workers were killed and two others were badly injured when a part of the wall adjacent to an under-construction drain collapsed in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh. Regarding this accident, SP (rural) Satyapal Singh said that the incident took place in Mehdipur village at around 1 pm when a wall adjacent to the drain construction site suddenly collapsed, due to which five workers were buried under the debris.

He said, ‘The deceased have been identified as Pradeep Kumar, Chandraprakash and Ramanand. The injured workers Arun Kumar and Omprakash were rescued and sent to the district hospital for treatment.’

On receiving information about the incident, local police station in-charge Rakesh Kumar Sharma reached the spot, where the villagers demanded compensation for the victim families. According to officials, Chakarnagar SDM Brahmanand and CO Prem Singh Thapa from the district administration tried to pacify the villagers.

The sub-divisional magistrate said the administration has assured the villagers of providing relief under various government schemes to help the families of those killed in the incident. Meanwhile, the local police said they were completing the necessary legal formalities after which the bodies were sent for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, SDM Brahmanand Katheria said that under the government scheme, the families of the deceased workers will be given five lakh rupees from the Chief Minister’s Farmers Accident Fund, thirty thousand rupees for the family, four thousand per month for the children’s education, in addition to this, whatever assistance will be available from the administration will also be given.

SP (rural) Satyapal Singh, who visited the injured in the hospital, said that the wall had collapsed and five workers were buried under it. Three have died and the two injured are undergoing treatment.
