Big news related to the Tirupati Balaji Temple located in Andhra Pradesh has come to light. The newly formed Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) here passed a resolution against non-Hindu employees working in the temple. Under the proposal, non-Hindu employees working on temple boards will have to opt for voluntary retirement (VRS) or transfer to other government departments in Andhra Pradesh. TTD bill revised three times
Let us tell you that TTD is an independent government trust. It manages the Tirumala Venkateswara temple, the richest Hindu temple in the world. The TTD Act has been amended three times in recent years. The purpose was to provide that only Hindus could be employed by temple councils and their affiliated bodies. An order issued in 1989 also said appointments to management posts in TTD would be restricted to Hindus only. However, according to sources, non-Hindus continue to work within the organization. In June 2024, a new government led by Chandrababu Naidu was formed in Andhra Pradesh. It comes after complaints from purported Hindu employees about colleagues from other religions.
What is the number of non-Hindu employees?
The new chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) BR Naidu has confirmed the decision. He, however, refused to reveal the exact number of non-Hindu employees working on the temple board. According to sources, TTD’s new decision will affect about 300 employees out of the board’s 7,000 regular employees. Let us tell you that TTD also has 14,000 contract workers.
