Maha Vikas Aghadi VS Mahayutty.
Only 10 days are left for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Before the election, the ruling party formed an alliance of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena, National Communist Party and Maha Vikas Aghadi, and the opposition Congress Party, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharad Pav The opposition alliance formed by Latvia issued an election manifesto before the election. In their election manifestos, both alliances have focused on women, farmers, tribals, Dalits and backward classes, but even before that, the parties had already decided the electoral agenda in Maharashtra.
If the BJP is divided, it will be divided, if it attacks the Congress and Mahavikas Aghadi on the Article 370 issue, then the Congress is talking about caste census, saving the Constitution, Dalits and Muslims. By accepting the conditions of the Ulema, such as banning the RSS, 10% reservation for Muslims, and giving Maulana stipend, the MVA also made its intentions clear. What is its agenda?
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath had raised this slogan in his state long before the Maharashtra elections. If we are divided, we will be cut, if we remain united, we will remain righteous, despite this slogan raised by CM Yogi in Uttar Pradesh, now the BJP is contesting the elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand I’m doing fine using it. It is no exaggeration to say that the Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections have become laboratories for this slogan.

If we are divided, we will be divided…but the election is happening.
This slogan kicked off the parliamentary elections The agenda has also been set. Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised this slogan with an appeal… If we remain united, we will be safe. He accused the Congress of dividing tribals, backward classes and Dalits. The Prime Minister claimed that the Congress would grab reservations by dividing backward classes and Dalits, but the slogan was enforced by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The deputy chief minister claimed that the contest for vote jihad in Maharashtra is a crusade for votes. At the meeting in Sambhaji Nagar, Fadnavis also gave the example of the Lok Sabha elections, how the BJP candidate was defeated due to splitting of votes between Dhule and Malegaon. Apart from this, while conferring the title of Hindu Emperor on Balasaheb Thackeray, he claimed that some people (Uddhav) were ashamed to call him Hindu Emperor. Now is the time to show electoral unity.
Reservation for Muslims, support for Ulama
Maha Vikas Aghadi, meanwhile, is not far behind in terms of vote polarization. The All India Ulema Council of Maharashtra has written to Mahavikas Aghadi’s party Congress, NCP (Sharad Pawar) and Uddhav Thackeray with 17-point demands. among these requirements Conditions like 10% reservation for Muslims in jobs and education, opposition to the Waqf Act, ban on RSS if the government is formed and monthly stipend of Rs 15,000 for Imams and Maulana have been officially accepted by Congress and NCP Sharad Pawar wrote a letter and appealed to Uzbekistan Rima Committee campaigned in support of Maha Vikas Aghadi’s candidacy.
Why vote for jihad versus vote for crusade?
In this way, in this election, the BJP is trying to have a big agenda of vote jihad and vote crusade, while the Congress is focused on caste census, saving the constitution, rights of Dalits and backward people and attacking the BJP. This agenda must be understood in terms of the caste equation in Maharashtra. According to the 2011 Census here Marathas account for approximately 32%. Dalits account for 14%, Muslims 11.54% and tribals 9.35%. This represents approximately 65% of the total population.
These voters accounted for about 60% of the total voters. With their support, the MVA won 44% of the vote in the Lok Sabha election and won 31 of the 48 seats. Meanwhile, Mahayut won only 17 seats. It had to be done. It is clear from the electoral data that due to the votes of these castes Mahavikas Aghadi won 14 of the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies. Mahayuthi suffered huge losses due to the consolidation of Muslim votes. Let us tell you here that out of the 288 assembly seats in the state, there are 30 constituencies where Muslim voters constitute 10 to 40 per cent of the total electorate and they voted unanimously in favor of the MVA.
MVA bets on MMD-DMK
In the 1980s, when the Congress Party was in power in Maharashtra, it had successfully formulated an electoral program. In Vidarbha it is known as DMK (Dalit-Muslim-Kumbi) while in other parts of the state it is known as MMD (Maratha-Muslim-Dalit). Both the Congress and Maha Vikas Aghadi are eyeing these votes and hope to win in the Assembly along Lok Sabha lines. On the other hand, Manoj Jarange asked Maratha to reserve his seat. The Marathas also resented this. Maratha booking is also an issue. However, the November 20 vote will decide whose government will be formed in the state on November 23.
It is clear from the Lok Sabha election results that in some parts of the state, Dalits, tribals and Marathas have united in support of the MVA. Women, farmers and some rural youth also supported the MVA, and Mahavikas Aghadi also benefited from it.
Why focus on Dalits, Marathas and Muslims?
Besides, there are 29 reserved constituencies for Scheduled Castes (SC) in Maharashtra. Dalits in Maharashtra voted for Congress and the Republican Party in the state. Prakash Ambedkar’s Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi has fielded another candidate. The state, which has 14% Dalits, 7% of whom are Buddhist, has been a staunch supporter of secular progressive politics, but non-Buddhist Dalits who still practice Hinduism vote based on local conditions .
Hence, the BJP has been aggressive on the issue of poll jihad, targeting the Muslim community, while constantly claiming that the Congress is trying to divide Dalits and backward classes and wants to end their reservation. Meanwhile, the Congress is once again trying to unite Muslims, Dalits and Marathas. Rahul Gandhi launched the Maharashtra campaign with Samvidhan Samman Sammelan from Nagpur on November 6 with the aim of winning Dalit votes in Maharashtra. Nagpur is the headquarters of RSS.
