Vodafone Idea on Sunday said it has awarded 300,000 shares worth approx. ₹30,000 crore to Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung for supply of 4G and 5G network equipment over three years.
The transaction is the company’s implementation of approximately $6.6 billion or ₹55,000 crores.
“Vodafone Idea has entered into a huge deal for approximately USD 3.6 billion (approximately ₹“We have signed a three-year network equipment supply agreement with Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung with a total value of $300 billion. The capex program is aimed at expanding 4G population coverage from 1.03 billion to 1.2 billion, launching 5G in key markets, and expanding capacity in line with data growth,” the company said in a statement.
Supply of these new long-term awards will begin next quarter.
The company’s priority is to expand 4G coverage to 1.2 billion Indians, the statement said.
