Air India has assured Vistara passengers that their travel experience will remain unchanged following the impending merger of the two airlines. An official Air India spokesperson tweeted on Friday: “With the merger and the changes that will come with it, we want to assure you that your Vistara flying experience will not disappear. You can continue to enjoy the same world-class fleet , excellent service, and a familiar face under the new code AI 2XXX.”

Full-service airlines Air India and Vistara (a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines) will merge on November 12. Thereafter, Vistara flights will be operated under the Air India brand and will be identified by a special four-digit code starting with the number ‘2’.

Measures in place

To ensure a seamless experience for Vistara passengers, Air India has deployed additional support at major airports, including help desks. “Customer support staff wearing ‘How can I help you?’ logo? Air India x Vistara branded T-shirts will be sold at the curbside area in front of the terminal entrance of the hub airport,” an official confirmed. Jobs Personnel will direct passengers with older Vistara tickets and provide assistance at self-service kiosks.

In the first month after the merger, Air India expects to serve around 115,000 passengers booking on Vistara. Meanwhile, 270,000 Vistara customers have been moved to Air India’s system. The loyalty shift is underway as more than 4.5 million Club Vistara members will be migrated to Air India’s fly-back program, which will be renamed ‘Maharaja Club’.

The integration will also see Singapore Airlines acquire a 25.1% stake in Air India. Vistara CEO and Air India CEO Campbell Wilson assured that Vistara’s “world-class fleet, exceptional service and familiar faces” will continue to be managed by Air India. The airline is committed to retaining the essence of Vistara’s premium experience and addressing any concerns passengers have about the quality of service following the merger.
