The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 has begun between India and Australia. The first Test match will be played in Perth on November 22. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who captained India in the absence of Rohit Sharma, won the toss and decided to bat first. Fast bowlers Harshit Rana and Nitish Reddy made their debuts.
The Indian innings started with KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal failed in his first game in Australia. The young opening batsman couldn’t even open his account. Mitchell Starc made him the victim. After this, Devdutt Padikkar also returned to the pavilion but did not open an account. After two young batsmen were out, Virat Kohli came to the crease to support KL Rahul.
Kohli is disappointed
Kohli started playing it safe and soon opened the account. Kohli slipped while trying to bowl the short delivery of Josh Hazlewood and scored just 5 runs. Kohli couldn’t feel the short ball. He didn’t want to hit the ball far away from the stump line but due to the extra bounce the ball hit the bat and was caught by Usman Khawaja who was standing at slip.
Just like that, Virat Kohli fell victim to Josh Hazlewood for the 10th time in international cricket. Hazlewood has now become the second bowler to dismiss Kohli the most times. Earlier, James Anderson and Moeen Ali also dismissed Kohli 10 times each. Not only this, Hazlewood has now become the Australian bowler who has dismissed Virat Kohli the most times.
