Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson set a great record in the first Test match against England in Christchurch. Kane Williamson made history by becoming the first New Zealand batsman to complete 9,000 Test runs on the third day of the tournament. Williamson achieved the feat in New Zealand’s second innings after recovering from a back injury. Kane, who missed last month’s Test match against India due to injury, made a superb comeback and performed well.
Kane, 34, achieved the feat in 103 Test matches, making him the third-fastest to reach 9,000 Test runs alongside Kumar Sangakkara and Younis Khan batter. Australia’s Steve Smith is the fastest batsman to achieve this feat in the 99th Test. Brian Lara finished second behind Smith.
Ken has a special place in his name
After a huge run in the Test match, Kane hit brilliant half-centuries in both the second and first innings. Thus, a special record was registered in the name of the legendary batsman. Kane scored 61 in the second innings, forming two important partnerships with Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell, before Williamson was caught in front of the wicket by Chris Woakes catch. With this, he achieved the great feat of scoring two half-centuries in the same Test match. Previously, Williamson returned and scored 93 points in the first game of this test match.
Virat Kohli left behind
Kane Williamson scored half centuries in both innings of the first Test match, leaving Virat Kohli behind.
