Today it has been 78 years since our country got independence. But caste is such a thing, the soot of which is still blackening the lives of a large section of the people. The accounts of us elder and you younger are still going on at different places. Here ‘upper’ caste people are ruling the Dalits. Many people are still living in this world of ours with the fear of their human rights being violated, the fear of not being able to breathe freely and the sadness of not getting opportunities. John Abraham and Sharvari have brought his story in the film ‘Veda’.

What is the story of the film?

The film begins in POK where Major Abhimanyu Kanwar (John Abraham) is on a mission. He loses his job because he disobeys his captain’s orders. Then you are shown why Abhimanyu did what he did. Abhimanyu, who has lost his wife at the hands of terrorists, reaches Barmer to fulfill his promise to the same wife. A separate arrangement is running in Barmer. Veda Berwa (Sharwari) lives here with her family.

Being a Dalit, Veda is not allowed to drink water from the water cooler. He is forced to drink water from the pot. If that water runs out then forget the water. In her everyday life, Veda sees people of her community losing their lives. By killing people in front of his eyes. The girls in her house are picked on and she is not even allowed to raise her gaze. Veda wants to learn boxing, but her wish is painfully crushed by the village head’s brother (Kshitij Chauhan). Pradhan Jitendra Pratap Singh (Abhishek Banerjee) is in charge of 150 districts, but he does justice from his own heart, keeping in mind the people of his caste.

One ‘mistake’ of Veda’s brother Vinod (Anurag Thakur) is going to make life miserable for his entire family. To avoid this, Veda, her sister Gehna (Tanvi Malhar), her father (Rajendra Chawla) will have to risk their lives. Veda wants to breathe freely and Major Abhimanyu does not like the things happening around him while living in Barmer. In such a situation, both become an important part of each other’s life. Both will teach each other some new and important things. Will Veda be able to break the shackles of society? What will be the role of Major Abhimanyu Kanwar in Veda’s story? This is the thing to be seen in the film.

How is the movie?

Director Nikhil Advani has made this film. It is made clear in the beginning of the movie that it has nothing to do with any person living or dead. The story of the film is taken from real life people, but a dramatic adaptation is shown. Nikhil has tried to make ‘Veda’ with a sensitive approach. The feeling of suffocation, the frustration of the people who are facing exploitation due to caste in the society, and the fear in their mind are visible in the characters of the film. Amidst all this, the tension between Pradhan and Abhimanyu’s character is very intense.

The first half of the film is good. You enter the life of Veda, who is jumping and staring at people. But this story quickly becomes very real and dark. An attempt has been made to keep the story equally tight in the second half also. Although its climax is a bit scattered. The bloody war going on between Major Abhimanyu, Veda and Pradhan Jitendra Pratap Singh definitely keeps you engaged.

performance

John Abraham is amazing in the role of no-nonsense Major Abhimanyu Kanwar. It is not possible that there is talk of John and no talk of action. The actor’s action and his stunts are amazing. John also makes you emotional with this film. Sharvari has played the character of Veda very well. Sharvari has beautifully portrayed the fire in Veda’s eyes and the anger in her heart. Abhishek Banerjee is very good in the role of Jitendra Pratap Singh. You will see him doing comedy in ‘Stree 2’. In such a situation, you will definitely be shocked to see his work in ‘Veda’.

One character who makes you feel like slapping him is Pradhan’s brother. This shows how well actor Kshitij Chauhan has played his character. He has become a cruel boy, who cannot compromise his narrow-mindedness even for a moment under any circumstances. Kshitij has done complete justice to this character. Ashish Vidyarthi, Danish Hussain, Kumud Mishra, Tamannaah Bhatia, Anurag Thakur and Tanya Malhar have played their roles well. Everyone has added different layers to their characters. The music of the film is also good. You can definitely give it a chance.
